Why we made a strap for Panerai Luminor models
Even with all the Rolex love around here at Everest Straps, many of our team members cherish their Panerai watches. We decided that our first strap would be for the popular Luminor model, the one that Stallone and his action movie star friends embraced in the 1990s, a move that significantly impacted the resurgence of Panerai.
The Luminor model is what most non-watch enthusiasts think of when then think of the brand. According to various sources, the Panerai dive watches have been the choice of the Italian military and Panerai Luminor has ushered in the modern era with its highly recognizable crown guard, which presses against the crown, locking it down without the need for a screw down crown.
The Panerai curved end-link strap
At Everest we wanted to satisfy legions of Luminor owners with both rubber and leather straps that would fit perfectly agains the case. This case fitment is the Everest hallmark and we know that precision means a lot to watch enthusiasts. Exacting tolerances are cherished and combined with our high-grade rubber the entire package makes for an ultra comfortable fit. Creating a strap that balances the weight of the 44mm Luminor is no easy feat, and early buyers have all reported good experiences with our Panerai straps.
To most people the range of Luminor models all look the same, with Arabic 3,6, 9 and 12 markers on the dial with thin baton hands. To Panerai enthusiasts the subtle differences, sandwich (a single plate of lume underneath a cut-out dial) vs. sausage (lume painted on top) dials, small seconds subsdials and other nuances make choosing the right Panerai Luminor model an enjoyable research project.
Recognized around the world
The fundamental design, however, is true the lineup and makes it one of the most recognizable watches from a distance. The chunky and bold case has been embraced and hated by the watch community. Those who are passionate about their Panerai Luminor watches can now enjoy a strap that fits the distinct case shape, an achievement we are very proud of.
