Tudor Unveils The Black Bay Chrono 'Blue' Boutique Edition
Today, Tudor unveiled the Black Bay Chrono ‘Blue’. The new color variation comes just one day before the start of Geneva Watch Days: similar timing to the Chrono ‘Pink’ that came out soon before Watches and Wonders. The non-limited 'Boutique Edition' is available at select Tudor boutiques.
The Tudor Black Bay Chrono ‘Blue’ features a dark blue dial and bezel, with the former receiving a sunray finish. Consistent with all Black Bay Chrono models, you’ll notice two splashes of red: the dial’s depth rating text and the tip of the chronograph seconds hand.
Aside from this new hue, the Chrono ‘Blue’ is identical to the Chrono ‘Pink’ which adopted Tudor’s new 5-link bracelet with a T-Fit micro-adjustment clasp. These watches share the same case design as all Black Bay Chronos since the 2021 refresh.
Since its 2017 release, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono has featured the Tudor caliber MT5813. The Breitling-B01-based movement offers exceptional value as a vertical clutch/column wheel chronograph from an esteemed Swiss brand around $5,000.
Final Thoughts
Yes–this is just a new dial/bezel color, but the Tudor Black Bay Chrono (and both Pelagos FXD Chronos, to be fair) continues to pose excellent value at its price point. I quite like the look of the non-riveted 5-link bracelet on the BB Chrono, and the blue offers a bit more personality than the black or white (not to the extent of the pink, of course).
Tudor released this watch just before Geneva Watch Days: an event that they are not participating in. This is a calculated move; I’m sure there will be a lot of “so did you see the new Black Bay Chrono” going around at the event. At Watches and Wonders, the Black Bay Chrono ‘Pink’ was the talk of the town, even though it was released almost two weeks prior.
