Tudor Is Releasing a New Watch on May 3rd—Here’s What We Know
At the front of Tudor’s booth at Watches and Wonders 2025, a display read: “A New Watch is Coming.” Above that message, a glowing nixie tube countdown, showing days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
As of April 1st, it read 32 days. That puts the debut date at May 3rd.
Next to the countdown was a silhouette showing an oversized profile of a watch, obscured as if draped under a cloth. Even so, you could make out a few things: pushers on the right side, and what looked like a strap rather than a bracelet.
So what might Tudor be cooking up?
The F1 Connection Is Getting Stronger

Tudor’s May 3rd release lines up with Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix weekend—specifically the day of both the Sprint Race and Qualifying. The Sprint sets the grid for that event, while Qualifying determines the lineup for Sunday’s main race.
Tudor is, of course, a major sponsor of the Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team, and their booth this year heavily leaned into the F1 connection. The suspended F1 car was hard to miss (pictured above), and just about everywhere you looked, there were nods to the VCARB team.
Tudor has tied a few recent watches to its partnership with the Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team. In 2023, they introduced the Black Bay Ceramic “Blue,” an all-black ceramic model with a matte blue dial, sold through boutiques in limited numbers. Not long after, the brand revealed the Black Bay Ceramic “Chameleon,” a rainbow-dial variant in the same case, issued exclusively to team members. It was never offered for public sale.
Both watches feature the same hybrid rubber-and-leather strap. Both were revealed in the days leading up to major Formula 1 races. This makes the May 3rd release—lined up with the start of the Miami Grand Prix—feel especially deliberate.
Could This Be a Big Block Revival?

There’s another possibility: a revival of the Big Block Chronograph. First introduced in 1976, the Big Block was Tudor’s first automatic chronograph. It stayed in production into the 1990s and became known for its chunky silhouette and 12-6-9 subdial layout. It’s become something of a cult classic, and a revival has been rumored for years.

At Only Watch 2023, Tudor added fuel to the fire with a one-off prototype: a solid yellow gold chronograph with a case inspired by the Big Block. Inside was something even more interesting—a brand-new Kenissi-built movement described as “fully developed from the ground up.” That’s a big deal, considering all of Tudor’s production chronographs to date (including the Black Bay Chrono, FXD Chrono, and the now-discontinued Heritage Chrono) use the MT5813, based on Breitling’s B01 architecture. An in-house chronograph caliber would be a significant step forward.
If Tudor is planning a proper Big Block revival, 2026 would make sense—it marks the 50th anniversary of the original. But it’s possible that May 3rd could bring a limited release or early preview of what’s to come. We’re not betting on it, but we’re not ruling it out.
Final Thoughts
What we know is simple: Tudor is launching a new watch on May 3rd, and they’re making a point of counting down to it. The silhouette at the booth showed pushers, and the watch appears to come on a strap, not a bracelet. That points to a chronograph—and given the F1-timing and Tudor’s ongoing partnership with Visa Cash App RB, a new Formula 1-tied release is the most logical prediction.
Whether that’s a new ceramic chrono, FXD Chrono, or the first step toward a Big Block revival, we’ll know soon enough. And we’ll be covering it the moment it drops.
