Is a New Tudor Release Hiding in Plain Sight?

Back in May of 2024, the winner of the Giro d’Italia, Tadej Pogačar, was presented a one-of-one Tudor FXD Chrono 'Cycling Edition'—a watch that didn’t just fit the moment, it matched it. The bright pink accents on the dial and strap mirrored the event’s iconic maglia rosa, or pink jersey, which has been worn by the Giro’s general classification leader since 1931.

That was supposed to be it: a unique reward for the champion. But earlier this year, something changed.

In February 2025, Tudor ambassador David Beckham was spotted wearing what appeared to be that same pink FXD Chrono—first thought to be a one-off. Since then, he’s been seen in the watch multiple times. And thanks to sharp-eyed watch spotters @sonofawatch and @niccoloy on Instagram, the sightings didn’t go unnoticed.

So what’s going on here? Is this the next FXD Chrono we’re going to see? And if so—when?

Let’s Start With What We Know

The version of the FXD Chrono worn by Beckham appears visually identical to Pogačar’s: black carbon case, black dial, pink tachymeter scale on the rehaut, pink subdial rings, and a matching pink fabric strap.

Tudor, the official timekeeper of the Giro d’Italia and sponsor of the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, originally stated that this version of the FXD Chrono is “only awarded to the winners of the TUDOR Time Trials as well as the Giro d’Italia.” And maybe that’s still true—at least for now.

But this wouldn’t be the first time a supposed one-off Tudor found its way into public hands.

The Black Bay Chrono ‘Pink’ was initially created for Jay Chou before being released widely. That rollout was quietly teased in advance when Chou and David Beckham were seen wearing the watch on Instagram ahead of launch. More recently, we saw the same strategy play out with the Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue—previewed by both ambassadors before its surprise release.

The Giro Starts May 9th

Some had speculated that this pink FXD Chrono might be connected to Tudor’s upcoming May 3rd chronograph release (teased via countdown at Watches and Wonders), but that theory no longer holds water. Close-ups of the countdown watch silhouette clearly show a domed crystal that sits well above the bezel, unlike the flat-crystal profile of the FXD Chrono Cycling Edition.

So it’s not May 3rd.

But May 9th? That’s when the 2025 Giro d’Italia begins.

Given the Giro's century-long history with the pink jersey, the repeated sightings of this watch on Beckham’s wrist, and Tudor’s growing playbook of ambassador-driven teasers, it’s not unreasonable to think we could see a public release tied to the event. And if not, the increased visibility might signal that Tudor is at least considering it.

Final Thoughts

To be clear: nothing is confirmed. Tudor hasn’t teased this watch publicly. There’s no official countdown, no cryptic Instagram post.

But if the Black Bay Chrono Pink taught us anything, it’s that Tudor doesn’t need to say much to build buzz. Sometimes, the ambassadors do the talking—and sometimes, the watches just show up.

So is a new Tudor release hiding in plain sight? Maybe. And with the Giro d’Italia just around the corner, we’ll be watching closely
