It’s now a continual ramp up for next week’s opening of Baselworld. Bloggers the forums are past predicting and starting to talk about what they want to see from the brands. A little late perhaps, and it’s all hopeful dreaming anyway, right?

Except for the stuff that’s already been posted in press releases, that is.

Sure enough, Omega went last year’s controversy one better and is releasing the Globemaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer in an Annual Calendar version. Stainless steel with a tungsten bezel, no less. And with a silicon balance spring, it’s anti-magnetic to15,000 Gauss. They announced the piece yesterday. Will it be the controversial piece that last year’s maiden version was? Time will tell, won’t it?

And one commentator claimed the new Arnold & Son Eight-Day Royal Navy is “very Ulysse Nardin.”

Meanwhile, Eterna announced a new Super KonTiki Chronograph with an in-house 35 jewel column wheel flyback chronograph movement. Amazing at less than $5000!

Angelus is making waves again this year with their U20 Ultra-Skeleton Tourbillon. Very cool mechanical vibe – looks like race car parts to me.

That’s just a smattering of what’s coming next week. Rolex, Patek Philippe, and some other big brands are playing it cool, so we’ll have to wait and see. Only nine days to go, folks!
