Hands-On with the Rolex DeepSea Full Gold

Hands-On with the Rolex DeepSea Full Gold

The DeepSea 136668LB — Rolex's new 322g, full-gold, 44m-wide, and 17.7mm-thick watch — commands attention as soon as you enter the room. Its size and beauty are unmistakable. The bezel, ring lock, and dial all feature the same mesmerizing blue lacquer, creating a cohesive and captivating look. Before you even put it on, you'll feel an urge to go for a swim.

On the wrist, the solid gold watch is undeniably large. While wearing it all day, you'll definitely notice its weight and presence, but for many, that's part of the appeal—to feel the luxury and substance of such a remarkable timepiece. Priced at $54,200, it lives up to its luxurious promise.

An important note about the DeepSea line is that it is now its own distinct line, separate from the Sea-Dweller collection. This evolution marks a significant step in its development and branding.

Final Thoughts

To truly appreciate the DeepSea Full Gold, you need to see it in person. Initially, I was disappointed that we didn't get a new all-gold Submariner, particularly hoping for a new all-green LV model. However, once I saw the DeepSea Full Gold at Watches & Wonders 2024, and later on my wrist, I was thrilled with Rolex's decision. The DeepSea in full gold replaces the Yacht-Master II in all gold and stands out as a masterpiece in its own right. Its combination of size, gold, and blue lacquer creates a unique and unforgettable impression, making it a must-see for any watch enthusiast.
